Catharism is a particular form of Manicheism. Its teachings florished particularly in the South of France, in the region of the Pyrenees Mountains.. The Roman Catholic Church and the them King of France, attracted by the riches culture and economy of the time, organized several cruel repressions - improperly called Crusades - under the leadership of Simon de Montfort. The entire region was devasteded and the population systematically eradicated. Surviving Cathars managed to keep their faith alive until today. Catharisme was a Christian stream of thought and spirituality that, because its methodical persecution, remained fervent and vigorous. In spite of the difformities introduced both by past detractors and modern dreamers, the light of the Cathar Church shines with a strange glow in the memory of the earth. Its history is like a hymn to the freedom of thoughts and an example of the numerous and dangerous attempts made by certain human beings to gain the fullness of the stature of Christ, at the risk of loosing their lives. The Manuscript 269 0f Dublin was discovered within a collection of writings of the Vaudois by the Italian scholar Mario Esposito, in 1920. It includes two separate books: The Church of God, and a comment of the Lord's Payer, that was used as a Ritual by the Cathars because the teaching came from the Lord Himself. This is, as far as we know, the first translation available in English.
