Defenders and Friends
The most influencial defender of Leadbeater was C. Jinarajadasa who knew him for many years. He earned a degree in Sanskrit from the Cambridge University (England). He testified of the absolute purity of his friend and mentor. His testimony was ignored by the British who disliked "Indians" (although Jinarajadasa was born in Ceylan). He went on a lecture tour in the United States and was well received Colonel Olcott, who wanted Leadbeater out of the Theosophical Society, decided to expell the young man under the pretense that "he was the cause of dissensions". Jinarajadasa was not reinstated before 1908, after the death of Olcott. Later, Jinarajadasa was elected as President of the Theosophical Society.
An American couple decided to testify of their confidence in Leadbeater by sending their son Hubert to spend the 1907 Summer with him in Dresden, Germany. Hubert was eleven years old. Leadbeater made some occult research on the young Hubert with the result that two years later, the boy got an invitation to come to Adyar for individual training.
The Blech family in Paris remained attached to Leadbeater after his resignation. They invited him several times in Paris and supported him financially.
