Wedgwood was a promoter of the use of gems as channels of spiritual energies. He has succesfully reviewed the Tridentine Liturgy and replaced the traditional reliks in Altar Stones, Candleholders, and "Ray Crosses".
He also experiemented the use of gems in Masonic Rituals, however the idea was not acceptable, at the time, to regular Obediences, not even to Le Droit Humain, of which he was a tiredless promoter.
In this Lodge Plan, even the placement of the Officers was altered, to improve the flow of energies. The plan (center, below) is obviously inspired by the Universal Pantacle (center below) invented by the French Mason and Theosopher, Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin, one of the founders of the Martinist mouvement. Saint-Martin gave its symbolic explanation in his book: About Numbers. When this Pantacle is compared to the Seal of the Theosophical Society, (below right) one notices how much Mrs. Blavatsky was influenced by Saint-Martin.

The Plan for a Masonic Lodge, designed by Wedgwood, resembles closely to the plan of a Martinist Temple. Even the placement of the Officers is similar. This design is intended to increase the spiritual powers of the Officers, in order to help candidates to tread the Path towards Reintegration, the prime teaching of Martinism and Theosophy, which announces the return of humanity into its original unity with the Divine, bringing back Consciousness from its exile in the material world.
