Bishop Stuart Nicholls
of New Zealand

Bishop Stuart passed to the higher life just before dawn on Sunday the 12th of October 1997, in his 93rd year. Bishop Stuart served this Church as priest for over 60 years of which 30 was as bishop, including service as Regionary for New Zealand. His work and service can only be described as exemplary and inspiring to all who met him. His was a quiet, yet strong personality and I think he would want his epitaph to say simply "He served well". For my part, I knew Stuart for over 30 years and I count it a privelege to have known him. I shall miss him as will all of us, especially we in New Zealand.

Stuart also served the kindred organisations all his life, as for example the Theosophical Society of which he was a member since the age of 21, that is for 72 years.

A Requiem Eucharist was celebrated on the the 14th of October.
