A new leader was needed, and so at a solemn Chapter meeting, James Wedgwood still in Australia, was chosen as Bishop-Elect, with the intension that he become Presiding Bishop.

The consecrators were to be Bishop Willoughby, assited by Bishops King and Gauntlet.
