This Center is dedicated to the study of modern Theosophy, and specially
to the theosophical teachings published by Mrs Helena Petrovna Blavatsky
in the "Secret Doctrine".
It is supported by many members of the Theosophical Society in America,
who are living on the estate, or in a residential area of the same name.
For many years, Krotona has served as a meeting place of well-known
spiritualists as Mrs Annie Besant, the Rev. Charles W. Leadbeater, Mr.
J. Krishnamurti.
Krotona is located on the hills looking down to the pretty town of Ojai,
California. It can be reached from the Los Angeles and Ventura airports,
by bus (2 hours from Los Angeles, 1 hour from Ventura).
This Center, besides its residential area, has a large lecture hall, an
exceptionnal Library of occult and spiritual litterature, a bookstore,
and a few comfortable guest rooms (kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning...)
where students from the whole world are staying while attending Krotona's
classes and seminars.
The Kern Foundation provides subsidies for young (and less young) students
in Theosophy, following the 3 months programs of Krotona, during which
occult and spiritual teachings, as well as guidelines for the inner
development, are provided, but also courses in the arts of writing,
speaking in public, and teaching.
