The Qumran Library or the Dead Sea Scrolls

CONTENTS

All the Scrolls of the Old Testament were found (except Esther) and became the collection including the documents listed here.  In fact the Book of Esther was on the verge of being omitted from the Cannonical Bible around the fourth century, but narrowly was voted in.  The writing of the Lord's name JHVH in the Scrolls is interesting, to say the least. It emphasizes His Holy Name as being apart from the worldly. Just as the Essenes of that period were the remnant of the faithful, being driven into separation from the corrupting world.  At all times, God preserves a portion of the faithful in order to continue worship and instruction in Spirit and in Truth.
The NewTestament quote actually symbolizes the frailty of the human body in light of the embodiment of the Holy Spirit.  Jars were used to conceal treasures in Old Testament times.  The jars found at the Qumran site were typically like this.  The leader of the Essenes actually spoke with the legalistic leaders of Jerusalem about the coming of "The Teacher of Righteousness" seventy years before Jesus Christ was born.
