The Twelfth General Episcopal Synod

In the Service of the Master

The term GES-12 is a generic term denoting a series of meetings and activities as set out in the roster, dealing, amongst others, with debating the future of the Church and becoming aware of the challenges the Church may have to face in the new millennium. It will include a Summer School, which should attract those Liberal Catholics who are earnestly seeking to improve their inner capabilities in the service of the Master. GES-12 comprises:

The Twelfth General Episcopal Synod (GES) attended by Bishops, who are members in good standing and on the Active List of the General Episcopal Synod of The Liberal Catholic Church. Their sessions last from Tuesday afternoon, July 11 (registration and opening) until Sunday mid-day, July 23, 2000.

The International Clerical Synod (ICS), attended by Priests and Deacons, who are members in good standing and on the Active List of Clergy in the respective Provinces or Territories of The Liberal Catholic Church. Their sessions last from Tuesday afternoon, July 11 (registration and opening) until Friday afternoon, July 14, 2000. From time to time, there will be joint sessions of attendees of the GES and the ICS.

The Liberal Catholic Church Congress (LCCC), attended by attendees of the GES and ICS and by Clergy in Minor Orders, Deaconesses and members of the Laity. Their sessions last from Friday afternoon, July 14 (registration and opening) until Sunday evening, July 16, 2000.

The Liberal Catholic Summer School (LCSS), which is open to all attendees of the GES, ICS, and LCCC. Their sessions run concurrently with those of the GES. Certain sessions of the LCSS are attended also by the Bishops. The LCSS lasts from Monday morning, July 17, until Saturday evening, July 22, 2000. Saturday will be the festive closing of the LCSS with an evaluation of what has been achieved and to identify areas for further development.

The Closing of GES-12, open to all attendees of the GES, ICS, LCCC and LCSS (morning only). Pontifical High Mass followed by Report-back on the proceedings of GES-12, a Vision as to the way forward in the new millennium and the Closing of GES-12.
